WEIRD NJ STORIES : WEIRD ANIMALS : LOBELIA THE COW

elsie the cowPOOR LOBELIA.
This famous symbol of the Borden Milk Company was on her way to an appearance in Chicago when she was involved in an auto accident and never quite recovered. She was listed in critical condition, and brought back to her home where she passed away at the Gordon Walker Farm in Plainsboro.

A tombstone set on the farm marks her final resting place, although she's not really buried at that spot. The real location of her burial lies behind one of the barns on the property. Keeping the tombstone close to the road gives the curious just enough time to give a quick hello
