I've got a story, will you publish it?

We offer a free issue to anyone who writes in their own weird New Jersey experience, and we publish it.
Weird NJ is not an anomalous magazine. We skirt around the edges of poltergeists and unexplained phenomena. What we do is record what you think is weird or odd about New Jersey.

We write about these oddities and places to document their existence as a cultural phenomenon unique to the state of New Jersey. Every site we encounter has a story to tell. The places we seek out and research all have a history to them, even if only a handful of people can remember their tale. The local legends, the heroes and villains, the unexplainable and, well... the weirdness that is New Jersey is what we explore. Plus, we like to hang out in old man bars and diners. You cannot find a better state to find weird stuff in. This is the mecca of weirdness, a holy grail of strange history crawls just beneath New Jersey's surface.

How come my story hasn't  been published yet?

If you are one of the many people who wrote in to us with a story that you haven't seen in an issue of Weird NJ, it may because a) we may have felt it needed further documentation and investigation, b) we put it in a folder with a similar theme for future publication, c) we would like to photograph the site, (d) it just didn't meet the weirdness quotient.

We receive hundreds of letters with weird stories about New Jersey, and believe us, we try and answer every one! Sometimes a story might not appear for years. It all depends on where we go and what roads lead us to your particular tale. Documenting folklore and legends is not an overnight process. There are many overlapping factors that we have to dig up, cross examine and then put into some sort of logical presentation.

On the other hand, some stories can be easily taken at face value and really need no further investigation. We roll all of the above material into a publication that comes out only twice a year, and that's what you've come to expect of Weird NJ.

We do offer a free issue to anyone who's story we publish, but it will be that particular issue that your story appears in. Hang in there, you just never know. One day when you least expect it, someone might step up to you and say "Hey, I saw your story in Weird NJ!"
